Justin Bieber’s ‘Speed Demon’ Lyrics Reveal How He’s Rising Above Public Criticism

Justin Bieber begins his new album, Swag II, with a strong message: You can’t stop him. On the opening track, “Speed Demon,” he makes it clear that he’ll keep moving forward and achieving “greatness” despite facing public criticism and judgment. He even jabs that he’s able to prove his haters wrong with his music, singing in one verse, “They try to say I’m out of my mind / But now they singing every line.”

In the chorus, he says he’ll “keep checking these chickens,” referring to his critics, and declares, “I achieve greatness, gettin’ better by the second.”

The song follows growing public concerns about Bieber’s health and marriage to Hailey Bieber this year. The pop star, however, has repeatedly shut down comments about his well-being and personal life on social media. Now, on “Speed Demon,” he says he no longer has “the patience to argue” and “put my pride to the side.”

In the second verse, he admits that he still faces his challenges, but Hailey gives him confidence. “And there’s something in the way she made me certain I’m enough / Everyday she put the loving on me,” he sings. The two married in 2018 and share a 1-year-old son, Jack, together.
