Jennifer Lopez’s 8 AMAs Outfits Included Ab-Baring Gowns, Sheer Jumpsuits, and More

Leave it to Jennifer Lopez to have seven glamorous outfit changes in one night.

At the Fontainebleau Las Vegas, the multi-hyphenate kept the audience on their toes at yesterday’s American Music Awards, where she was the evening’s host for the first time since 2015.

On the red carpet, she stunned in a nude Defaïence gown with a plunging neckline. She accessorized with gold heels and MARLI jewelry. She also wore the same dress onstage with Rod Stewart, who received the Lifetime Achievement Award.

Lopez opened the show with a dance medley of some of this year’s biggest hits, like Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us,” Billie Eilish’s “Birds of a Feather,” and Chappell Roan’s “HOT TO GO!” She began the performance in a black trench coat before taking it off to reveal a MICHAEL NGO nude and black rhinestone jumpsuit.

As the evening progressed, Lopez maintained the sparkly theme. Later, she wore a Miss Sohee rhinestone gown with a high leg slit and a bright teal jacket with floral embroidery and puffy sleeves.

She also paid homage to her hometown of the Bronx, New York, when she wore a Bronx & Banco jewel-adorned gown with elaborate cut-outs. She accessorized with diamond earrings and clear heels.

She added to her neutral color palette for the evening with a black sequin jumpsuit, which featured even more cut-outs.

And the glitz didn’t end there. She also wore a striking gold sequin halter gown with two high leg slits and accessorized with gold heels and statement earrings.

When she introduced Janet Jackson’s performance ahead of Jackson receiving the Icon Award, she went for a blue strapless gown with exaggerated hip details. She accessorized with a diamond cuff and choker.

In a pre-show interview with People, Lopez broke down her thought process for the night’s outfits. “I work with my stylist, and we kind of kick around ideas like, ‘What do we want it to be for the performance and what do we want it to be for the hosting and what’s our vibe?’” she said. “We feel it out because I think it does change. For me, my feelings change from month to month, like, ‘Who do I want to be today?’ because I feel like there’s so many different sides to who I am fashion-wise.”

She added that her goal is to captivate the audience and keep them interested throughout the show. And after so many years in the public eye, she said that she now has quick outfit changes down to a science. “We just have learned to do it so fast,” she explained. “So I’m sure we hold a world record or something somewhere.”
