Ersoy Kartalkaya did not attend the Commission meeting
It was learned that the Minister of Culture and Tourism, Mehmet Nuri Ersoy , did not attend the meeting of the Parliamentary Investigation Commission established to investigate the fire at the Grand Kartal Hotel in Kartalkaya in which 78 people, 36 of whom were children, lost their lives, and that Deputy Minister Nadir Alpaslan attended in his place.
The meeting held under the presidency of AKP Erzurum Deputy Selami Altınok to investigate all aspects of the fire and determine those responsible was attended by Deputy Minister Nadir Alpaslan instead of Minister of Culture and Tourism Ersoy , which caused a reaction.
“The Minister should come here and answer questions. It is true that the Minister of Tourism is clearly at fault in this incident where 78 people lost their lives. However, there is no resignation here either. We will not be a party to this drama,” said CHP Group Deputy Chairman Ali Mahir Başarır and continued:
“It is true that the minister has a clear fault”"You are performing a historical duty. We have a historical responsibility. I regret to say that the Minister of Tourism did not come here in our third meeting. The Minister of Labor did not come here. We are conducting an investigation here. The data collected here will one day constitute an important part of the prosecutor's prosecution. It is true that the Minister of Tourism has a clear fault. There is no resignation here. There is no minister who has come here. So what are we investigating? Why is the Minister not coming here? I am calling out to my AKP friends. The Minister should be here. We should ask questions to the Minister. We should do this on behalf of 86 million people.
“There is no point in us being here as the opposition”Will we find the material truth? Will we ease the minds of the families of the 78 people we lost or will we clear the minister? If the minister does not come here, this will be a commission to clear the minister. The minister should come here and answer questions. All the families are following here but there is no minister. Does this seem right to you in good conscience? Now you will go to Bolu and examine the hotel but the responsible minister should have come here and at least been here to ease the conscience. There is no point in us being here as the opposition.”
Three party commission members walked out of the meetingHe reacted to the non-attendance of the Minister of Culture and Tourism, Mehmet Nuri Ersoy, and left the meeting. Following the CHP, the New Path and Good Party deputies also left the commission.
Nadir Alpaslan: Business certificate is a 'quality' certificateNadir Alparslan , who made a presentation to the commission, claimed that the tourism operation certificate is a 'quality' certificate and that a hotel cannot be opened and operated with this certificate alone.
Administrative sanctions were imposed on the Grand Kartal Hotel 5 times.Alparslan, who explained that the facility falls within the area of responsibility of Bolu Special Provincial Administration due to being outside the adjacent area of Bolu Municipality, stated that the facility in question had previously been given administrative sanctions (three warnings, two administrative fines) five times due to non-compliance with the legislation. Alpaslan explained that according to Article 18 of the “Regulation on the Inspection of Tourism Investments, Businesses and Organizations”, the authority to determine and inspect cleanliness, order, service, price, administration and operation, qualifications that form the basis of obtaining a certificate, and personnel qualifications in certified tourism businesses belongs to the ministry, and that inspections regarding health and environmental pollution are carried out by physicians and health personnel of authorized public institutions and organizations, and inspections regarding business and work permits are carried out by the public institution that issues the business and work permits.
When Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy did not come to the TBMM Kartalkaya Fire Investigation Commission, CHP deputies left the commission. CHP Group Deputy Chairman Ali Mahir Başarır said, “We will not be a part of this theater.”
