'Peace Istanbul' inspection in Kartal: 2 suspects fined for knife use

Istanbul Police Department teams conducted "Peace Istanbul" inspections on Kartal Spor Street. Security Branch Directorate, Public Order Branch Directorate, Preventive Services, Traffic Control, Aviation, Narcotics Crimes Combating Branch Directorate teams participated in the inspection. Upon suspicion, the teams stopped the vehicles and conducted General Information Screening (GBT) interrogations on the drivers and passengers.

A knife was seized during a search of two cars as part of the Huzur Istanbul inspection. (DHA)

"I KNEW IT WAS ILLEGAL"

During the checks conducted by the police teams, a car was stopped on suspicion. A knife was seized during the body search of Çağatay Soylu, who was a passenger in the car. Çağatay Soylu, the owner of the knife, said, "I know it is not legal. I have no regrets. My general information scan is clean." On the other hand, no criminal elements were found in the car.

A citizen who had a knife in his vehicle defended himself by saying, "I'll leave the knife when I get home." (DHA)

"I'LL LEAVE THE KNIFE WHEN I GO HOME"

Police teams stopped another car and did not find any evidence of a crime when they searched the driver. When the car was searched, a knife belonging to the driver was found in the glove compartment. Driver FT stated that the knife was a gift and that he had forgotten it in the glove compartment and said , "We were coming from Kastamonu. I was going to leave the knife at home. If you want, I can leave the knife when I get home now."

CRIMINAL ACTION AGAINST 2 PERSONS

Two people who were found in possession of knives were taken to Kartal Şehit Selahattin Aslantepe Police Station by police teams and legal action was taken against them.
