Turkish panzer delivery schedule announced: 250 Altays on the way

Görgün reported that three ALTAY tanks will be delivered this year.

It was announced that the ALTAY tank will be put into production in the T2 configuration as of 2028 and 165 tanks will be delivered with this version. Thus, a total of 250 ALTAY tanks are planned to be added to the inventory of the Turkish army by the end of 2028.

The ALTAY tank, as a new generation main battle tank developed by Turkey with domestic and national resources, draws attention with its superior firepower, advanced armor protection and high mobility. It was stated that the existing systems will be optimized in the T1 configuration, while new technological innovations will be introduced in the T2 version.

BMC Chairman Fuat Tosyalı stated that all production activities in the defense industry will be carried out with the investments made in BMC's production facility in Ankara. Tosyalı said, "In this production complex, many different tracked and wheeled armored vehicles, primarily the new ALTAY tank and ALTUĞ 8x8 armored combat vehicle, as well as domestic engines will be produced." With the 400, 600, 1000 and 1500 horsepower engines to be produced in the BMC Power facility, domestic and national engines will be provided for the ALTAY tank and other defense vehicles. This development is considered an important turning point in Turkey's defense industry. Tosyalı said, "We will become a supplier of domestic and national engines and transmissions." Tosyalı stated that the production of the new ALTAY tank is the most exciting project and said, "The Domestic and National Tank Project is a 25-year dream and the countdown has begun for mass production."
