The leader in smartwatches has changed! Apple has lost its position to its rival.
A development has taken place that will completely shift the balance of power in the global smartwatch market. According to Counterpoint Research's Q2 2025 report, Huawei has surpassed Apple to become the market leader for the first time in its history.
The company attracted attention with its 52 percent growth rate, and the strong demand in China and its wide product range were cited as the most important reasons for this success.
The report noted that global smartwatch shipments broke a five-quarter downtrend, rising 8 percent year-over-year. Huawei made the biggest jump during this period, increasing its shipments by 52 percent.
The main factors supporting the company's growth were its wide range of products, especially those in the $100-$400 range, and its smartphone-IoT integration.
Although more than 75 percent of Huawei's shipments come from China, expansion into the EMEA (Europe-Middle East-Africa) and Asia-Pacific markets has also accelerated growth.
THINGS HAVE BEEN TURNED UP AT APPLEThe situation reversed for Apple, where shipments fell 3 percent in the second quarter, marking the company's seventh consecutive quarterly loss.
SAMSUNG IS IN DECLINEAfter Huawei replaced Apple, the latest situation of other brands in the smartwatch market is as follows;
- Xiaomi achieved 38 percent growth with its affordable models.
- imoo maintained its leadership in the kids' smartwatch category with a 21 percent increase.
Samsung, on the other hand, experienced a 3 percent contraction due to the Galaxy Watch 7 not receiving the expected attention.
