Major chipmaker to invest $100 billion in ChatGPT creator

The investment will help OpenAI build 10 gigawatt data centers , using advanced Nvidia AI chips to train and deploy OpenAI models.

According to unofficial information from Bloomberg, Nvidia will receive shares in OpenAI, the investment will be transferred in stages , and the first $10 billion will be transferred after the launch of the first gigawatt of computing power.

The companies said in a statement on Monday that they had signed a letter of intent regarding the strategic agreement.

Nvidia and OpenAI did not provide details of the investment or its completion date.

In a statement, the companies said they "look forward to finalizing the details of this new phase of their strategic partnership in the coming weeks."

Nvidia's shares rose as much as 4% on the New York Stock Exchange. That puts it up about 36% this year, Bloomberg noted.
