Huge $17 billion deal from SpaceX

SpaceX has purchased $17 billion worth of frequency licenses from US operator EchoStar as part of its plan to strengthen satellite communications.
The two companies said in a joint statement on Monday that the agreement will further strengthen the global operations of the Starlink network.
The acquisition will give EchoStar subscribers access to SpaceX's Starlink direct-to-cell service without the need for an additional terminal.
SpaceX launched its first direct-to-cell satellites in early 2024.
Initially only allowing for text messages and alerts, the system now provides access to applications, social networks and messaging platforms in remote areas.
