In a statement on social media, Uraloğlu stated that another important milestone has been crossed as part of the efforts to implement 5G technology. Pointing to the publication of the 5G tender announcement prepared by the Information and Communication Technologies Authority (BTK) in the Official Gazette today, Uraloğlu stated, "We will hold the 5G tender on October 16, 2025, and our mobile operators will begin offering 5G services as of April 1, 2026."

The process will proceed with the existing operators. A total of 11 different frequency packages will be allocated to the operators through a tender for a minimum value of $2.125 billion for a total of 400 MHz of frequency in the 700 MHz and 3.5 GHz frequency bands. Our operators will also participate in the tender individually and compete to obtain the most suitable and largest frequency bands based on their own strategies. Operators will be able to pay the frequency fee in three equal installments. The tender specification fee has been set at 1 million lira.
OPERATORS WILL PAY 5 PERCENT OF THEIR ANNUAL TURNOVER TO BTKMinister Uraloğlu announced that current mobile network authorizations will expire on April 30, 2029, and noted the following:
As of this date, existing authorizations will expire, and after this date, our operators' infrastructure and services will be subject to the authorization regime to be offered as part of the new tender. From this date on, our operators will be obligated to pay 5 percent of their annual revenue to our Information and Communication Technologies Authority. The authorization period will be valid until December 31, 2042.
Minister Uraloğlu also noted that operators can submit their bids starting October 9, 2025, with the deadline for applications being 9:30 a.m. on October 16, 2025. Uraloğlu stated that the tender will be held at the BTK Headquarters at 10:30 a.m. on the same day.
“OUR MOBILE INTERNET SPEED WILL INCREASE AT LEAST 10 TIMES”Minister Uraloğlu stated that 5G technology is crucial for Türkiye's digitalization journey, saying, "We have conducted intensive technical work with our operators who successfully maintain 2G, 3G, and 4.5G services. With the new era, our mobile internet speed will increase at least tenfold. Furthermore, thanks to machine-based communication features, production processes will undergo a major transformation."
Uraloğlu emphasized that the rate of localization and nationalization in the 5G infrastructure will also be increased, and noted the following:
"There will be a requirement to use up to 60 percent domestic products and up to 30 percent national communication products. This will both reduce dependence on foreign technology and encourage domestic production."
