CHP's Günaydın visited Mayor Çalık in the hospital: He is melting away before our eyes

CHP Deputy Parliamentary Group Chairman Gökhan Günaydın visited imprisoned Beylikdüzü Mayor Mehmet Murat Çalık at İzmir City Hospital. Following the visit, Günaydın made a statement, emphasizing the seriousness of Mayor Çalık's health and stating that his failure to release him was morally and legally unacceptable.
"THIS CRUELTY AND THIS OPPRESSION MUST BE STOPPED AT ONCE"
Günaydın, stating that Mayor Çalık's health condition has reached alarming levels, said, “He's being held in the hematology department on the 11th floor of İzmir City Hospital. His mother, siblings, and family are waiting for him in another corridor. I went up to Mayor Mehmet. I visited him when he was in Buca Prison. There's no need to be a doctor. On the morning of March 19th... He was detained at 105 kilograms. Currently, he's 85 kilograms. In other words, he's lost 21 kilograms from 105 to 85. A person losing 21 kilograms in a three- to four-month period is an indication that things are not going well. Furthermore, the tests performed here at Atatürk Training and Research Hospital indicate that he's on the verge of a relapse and needs to be released immediately.”
The Forensic Medicine Institution is unconvinced. So, he goes to Istanbul, where they tell him, "You need a report from Izmir City Hospital." They transfer him back to Metris Hospital in Istanbul, then to Metris Prison; he stays there for five hours, then comes back here, where the same tests are repeated. A person who previously suffered from lymphoma and leukemia is melting away before our eyes. None of this is compatible with law, conscience, or justice. This cruelty, this oppression, must end immediately. Even the tears of Murat Çalık's mother should be enough to end this cruelty and call for justice."
