Anthropic CEO: AI Will Destroy Half of White-Collar Workers

Dario Amodei, CEO of Anthropic, one of the largest artificial intelligence companies in the industry, warned that artificial intelligence could already take away jobs, especially from white-collar workers.

Speaking to Axios, Amodei said AI could "eliminate" half of all entry-level white-collar jobs.

The boss of the firm that develops Claude language models, one of ChatGPT’s leading rivals, argued that the resulting job losses could increase unemployment by 20% over the next five years, adding:

"There is a possibility that jobs in technology , finance, law, consulting and other white-collar professions, especially entry-level jobs, will disappear altogether."

PUBLIC NOT ENOUGHLY WARNED

"It's my responsibility," Amodei said in response to the question of why he felt the need to warn people about AI now.

Stating that governments and their competitors in the artificial intelligence sector do not take this issue seriously, the technology CEO claimed that the public is not sufficiently informed about the possible problems that artificial intelligence will bring.

On the other hand, Amodei also admitted that AI will provide great benefits when it comes to treating diseases and other medical breakthroughs, as well as growing the economy.

FAMOUS BILLIONAIRE OPENED

However, famous billionaire Mark Cuban stated in his post on the social media platform Bluesky that he did not agree with the assessment of the Anthropic CEO.

"Someone should remind the CEO that there are over 2 million secretaries in the business world," Cuban said.

"New companies that invent new jobs will emerge thanks to AI, and they will increase TOTAL employment."
