Ali Mahir Başarır's reaction to Merdan Yanardağ's detention: I thought it was a joke

CHP Deputy Group Chairman Ali Mahir Başarır reacted to the detention of TELE1 Editor-in-Chief Merdan Yanardağ in a statement on TELE1. Describing the espionage investigation as "shameful," Başarır said:

"Every day something strange happens. When I first saw it on the screen, I thought it was more of a joke than a farce. I come to TELE1 regularly and participate in the broadcasts. Everything is so transparent...

There's something here that's trying to humiliate people. For months, this channel has been talking about Israel's bloody actions. It's incomprehensible. What are you connecting with what, who with whom?

"He has a connection to the CHP," I don't understand this. If an AKP politician wanted to join the broadcast, would you not let him? Did the espionage investigation against Ekrem İmamoğlu just now come to mind? They're going back to 2019. It's a complete travesty. Those who govern this country are still asking, "How did we lose the 2019 elections?"

"Espionage regarding Merdan Yanardağ is the last thing that can be said. Why are you raiding the channel? What are you looking for? This is a shameful investigation."
