A new era in the authorization process: Domestic production requirement for 5G

Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu announced that they will impose obligations to increase the use of domestic and national products within the scope of 5G authorization. Uraloğlu evaluated the Investment Environment Improvement Coordination Board (YOİKK) 2025 Action Plan, which consists of 39 actions that will significantly contribute to the economic growth, employment and sustainable development of the country. Uraloğlu stated that within the scope of the action plan, legislative preparations for the development of operation, construction and management models of logistics centers and connection lines will be completed. He said that studies will be carried out in many areas from artificial intelligence to informatics, logistics and communication infrastructure to strengthen Türkiye's investment environment. Uraloğlu stated that they will contribute to the action plan and the studies to be carried out in their own fields and said, "In this context, we will work on the expansion of fiber infrastructures and the creation of a financial support model for regions where commercial expansion of fiber infrastructure is difficult. In order to facilitate the installation of passive infrastructure, to reduce and uniform the fees to be paid for right-of-way permits, we will work on the Electronic Communications "The amendment to the law will be submitted to the Turkish Grand National Assembly. This will contribute to the completion of work on fiber infrastructure," he said. STRATEGIC AND POLITICAL DECISIONS ON 5G WILL BE MADE Pointing out that the YOİKK 2025 Action Plan was prepared with the aim of finding solutions to the legal, administrative, and bureaucratic problems faced by national and international investors, supporting private sector investments, strengthening sustainable business and employment opportunities, and encouraging export-oriented production, Uraloğlu drew attention to the fact that actions related to 5G technology are also prominent in the plan. Minister Uraloğlu announced that the opinions of public institutions and the private sector will be taken regarding 5G authorization and that the studies will be carried out in a coordinated manner, and noted the following: "Issues such as the frequency bands and minimum values ​​to be allocated to operators, tender times, authorization periods, and coverage obligations will be determined. Within the scope of 5G authorization, obligations to increase the use of domestic and national products will be determined, taking into account the domestic production capacities of manufacturing companies. The Ministry will make a strategy and policy decision regarding the conduct of 5G authorization studies and the determination of obligations regarding the use of domestic and national products."
