Attention to those who have increased skin blemishes after summer

Dermatology Specialist Dr. Özlem Yılmaz Albayrak made explanations about skin blemishes and treatment methods.
Dr. Albayrak stated that skin spots become more visible for many people as summer draws to a close, saying, "The harmful effects of the sun, genetic factors, and hormonal changes pave the way for the development of different types of spots on the skin. The skin produces more of the pigment melanin to protect itself from the sun's harmful rays. This pigment concentrates in certain areas, causing brown spots to appear. Additionally, genetic predisposition, hormonal changes, improper product use, smoking, and stress are among the factors that increase the risk of spot formation."
'NOT EVERY SPOTET IS CAUSED BY THE SUN'
Dr. Albayrak, a specialist, emphasizes that not every blemish on the skin is caused by sun exposure, saying, "Dark spots can also occur for various reasons, such as freckles, post-acne scars, or melasma during pregnancy. Therefore, an evaluation by a dermatologist is crucial for a correct diagnosis."
'METHODS USED IN STAIN TREATMENT'
Discussing the methods used to treat skin blemishes, Specialist Dr. Albayrak explained, "Different methods can be used to treat skin blemishes. The patient's skin type, depth, and type of blemish are key factors in determining the treatment plan."
Specialist Dr. Albrayrak listed the main methods as follows:
Medical creams: Ingredients such as retinol, vitamin C and arbutin are used.
Chemical peeling: Reduces the appearance of blemishes by renewing the upper layer of the skin.
Mesotherapy: Vitamins and brightening ingredients are applied to the skin.
Laser treatments: Target pigment cells to break down spots. The Q-Switch laser, in particular, offers successful results in treating sunspots and freckles.
'SUN PROTECTION SHOULD BE USED AFTER TREATMENT'
Addressing the post-treatment precautions, Specialist Dr. Albayrak said, "Post-treatment skin care is as important as the treatment process itself. To prevent blemishes from recurring, certain precautions should be taken. High-factor sunscreen should be used regularly. Skin moisture balance should be maintained. Care products recommended by your specialist should be applied regularly."
'THE MOST APPROPRIATE TIME TO START STAIN TREATMENT'
Addressing the best time to treat spots, Specialist Dr. Albayrak said, "Dermatologists recommend starting spot treatment in the fall and winter months. Because the sun's effects are less pronounced during these times, the treatment process is safer and more effective."
'CONSULT A DERMATOLOGIST FOR PERMANENT RESULTS'
Specialist Dr. Albayrak said, "Skin blemishes can be aesthetically displeasing, but they can be significantly reduced with today's available treatment options. For successful and lasting results, it's crucial to consult a dermatologist and be patient throughout the treatment process."
