Stunning discovery at 'Noah's Ark site' linked to truth of biblical story

Stunning discovery at 'Noah's Ark site' linked to truth of biblical story

Stunning discovery at 'Noah's Ark site' that researchers say could prove biblical story is true. High in the mountains of Turkey lies a mysterious geological formation that some researchers believe could be the remains of Noah's Ark.

According to the Bible, this huge ship saved humanity and all animal species from destruction during a catastrophic flood more than 4,300 years ago, writes the Daily Mail.

Now, a team of American researchers working in the Durupinar Formation near Mount Ararat have found evidence of angular structures and a void deep within the mountain. Andrew Jones, an independent researcher with Noah's Ark Scans, used ground-penetrating radar to detect what appeared to be a 13-foot tunnel running through the center of the formation. The scans also revealed three layers underground, matching the biblical description of a boat with three decks.

Genesis 6:16 says, "Make a roof for the ark, and build it a cubit higher, and make a door for the ark at the side of it. Make the bottom, second, and third planks."

And a new analysis of the team's ground-penetrating radar data has shown that researchers have discovered central and lateral corridors running through the entire boat, the Daily Mail reports.

"We don't expect anything to be completely preserved. All that's left is a chemical fingerprint, bits of wood and earth in the shape of a hall," Jones told the Christian Broadcasting Network (CBN).

Situated south of Mount Ararat, the Durupinar formation has been known to the modern world for less than a century, the Daily Mail notes. According to local reports, heavy rains and earthquakes in May 1948 washed away the surrounding mud, revealing the mysterious formation. It was then discovered by a Kurdish shepherd.

The Bible says that Noah's Ark came to rest on the "mountains of Ararat" after a 150-day flood that submerged the Earth and all living things not sheltered inside the wooden vessel.

What's intriguing is that the formation is located next to a mountain with a peak that some believe matches the shape and size of the ark, the Daily Mail notes.

According to biblical measurements, the ark was "300 cubits long, 50 cubits wide, and 30 cubits high."

The idea that the ark landed on Mount Ararat has long been controversial, the Daily Mail points out. While many scientists argue that the formation is a natural geological phenomenon, others are convinced that it points to something far more unusual. The Noah's Ark Scans team firmly believes in the latter.

Speaking to CBN News, Jones shared new details about the scanning he and his team of independent researchers have been conducting over the past few years in the Durupinar Formation.

So far, scans have revealed angular structures up to 20 feet below the surface - features that may represent rooms beneath the deck-like platform.

In Genesis 6:14 the Bible describes the ark: "Make thee an ark of gopher wood; make rooms in the ark, and coat it inside and out with pitch."

"It's not what you would expect to see if this was just a solid rock mass or the result of a random mudslide," Jones says. "But it's exactly what you would expect to find if this were a man-made boat that fits the biblical description of Noah's Ark."

The team also conducted a soil survey, finding "some interesting things," according to Jones.

"We noticed that the grass growing inside the boat-shaped formation was a different colour compared to the area immediately outside it," he said, suggesting that this could indicate it was man-made rather than natural.

William Crabtree, another Noah's Ark researcher, added that the tunnel appeared to extend from the top of the formation to the middle, and was large enough to walk through. He also described the soil analysis, noting that the formation had twice the organic matter of the surrounding soil.

"The potassium levels inside are also about 40 percent higher," Crabtree says. "If you understand soil science — and I do — you'll understand that decaying organic material can affect potassium levels, organic matter, and pH. If this was a wooden boat and the wood had rotted over time, we'd expect to see elevated potassium levels, changes in pH, and higher organic matter content — and that's exactly what we found."

Jones and his team plan to expand their soil survey beyond the 22 samples they have already collected. They also intend to complete the survey with core drilling and conduct additional ground penetrating radar surveys across the site.

"We want to compare what's inside the formation with what's outside," Jones says. "That could give us a much clearer idea of whether or not it's man-made."
