Scientists from Cornell University in the US have found out what will happen to satellites in Earth orbit if asteroid 2024 YR4 collides with the Moon. This is reported by the CNN channel.

According to NASA, the probability of 2024 YR4 colliding with the Moon in 2032 is currently 4.3%.

Researchers believe that in the event of a collision, satellites in Earth orbit would be damaged.

A possible collision would release up to 100,000 tons of lunar rock, which would damage satellites and other devices in orbit, and also create an impact crater on the Moon, the width of which would reach one kilometer, American scientists predicted.
