Nizhny Novgorod Region Governor Gleb Nikitin said that during excavations in the center of Nizhny Novgorod, archaeologists saw a molar of a young woolly mammoth.
The tooth was located approximately two meters deep from the modern surface, Nikitin said on his Telegram channel .
Mammoths presumably lived where Nizhny Novgorod is now located until the tenth millennium BC, but then began to disappear due to sudden warming and changes in vegetation.
