Mikhail Maslov, an engineer at the Vega Observatory of Novosibirsk State University (NSU), successfully photographed comet C/2025 A6 Lemmon, the Siberian Express Telegram channel reports.
This celestial body, discovered in early January 2025 at the Mount Lemmon Observatory in the United States, is currently only accessible for observation in the early morning with powerful amateur telescopes. However, this fall, the comet promises to be one of the most spectacular astronomical events. According to the NSU press service, it will reach its peak brightness in late October or early November, when it may become visible to the naked eye.
The image was taken around 4:00 a.m. on September 19, 70 kilometers from Novosibirsk. To obtain a high-quality image, Mikhail Maslov used a telescope with a focal length of 854 mm and high aperture.
The total exposure time was 31 minutes, allowing for the details of the tailed visitor to be captured. Scientists and amateur astronomers eagerly await the comet's approach to the Sun to observe its increasing brightness and changing appearance.
