The former head of Vladimir's Ministry of Health has had his pretrial detention extended for six months.

Yanin was detained by law enforcement officers in December 2024, and a court remanded him in custody. Around the same time, the official resigned. In September 2025, the Oktyabrsky District Court of Vladimir ruled to change Yanin's pretrial detention to house arrest until November 10, 2025.
Investigators believe that, since 2021, Valery Yanin, as head physician of the Aleksandrovskaya District Hospital, created a scheme to make unjustified payments to his subordinates. According to the Investigative Committee, some of this money was returned to Yanin.
The case materials indicate that after his appointment as Minister of Health of the Vladimir Region in November 2023, the defendant allegedly continued his illegal activities. Law enforcement officials estimated the total damage at over 400,000 rubles. Initially, Yanin was also charged under Part 3 of Article 160 of the Russian Criminal Code (large-scale embezzlement using official position). Currently, no information about the investigation into this incident has been provided to the court.
Since July 2025, Tamara Tomaeva, who previously served as the first deputy head of the ministry, has been acting Minister of Health of the Vladimir Region. Tomaeva is the third head of the regional Ministry of Health since Yanin's resignation.
