TRT-2 rejects seizure of betting prizes to pay off labor debt

The Ninth Panel of the Regional Labor Court of the 2nd Region rejected a request to seize prizes from online betting platforms, known as bets , to settle a labor debt.
The author of the action had requested that letters be sent to companies such as Bet365, Betano, KTO, Superbet and Sportingbet, arguing that the measure would allow the location of possible assets of the debtor and the consequent payment of the debt.
According to the rapporteur at TRT-2, judge Valéria Pedrosa de Moraes, however, prizes in virtual games must be transferred to bank accounts owned by the bettors. Thus, seizure via the Judiciary's Asset Search System, Sisbajud, would be a more effective way to access these amounts.
For the judge, “any credits held on online betting platforms are characterized as future and uncertain events, conditioned by variable elements, which compromises immediate liquidity for seizure purposes”.
