Tinder to launch four-way dating option

Tinder is evolving from a platform for two-person dating to a platform that allows for double dating. The feature will first roll out to US users and allows users to invite up to three friends to create a match. After that, the search method will be the same as usual, with swipes of profiles with photos and descriptions. Once a match is considered successful, that is, there is a match between two people, Tinder will open a group chat with the four users involved.
At a time when the dating app segment is somewhat stagnant, this new feature on Tinder will allow it to gain an advantage over its direct rivals and also enter the race against Doubble and Fourplay, apps specifically for four-way dating.
The feature has been tested by Tinder for a few months now, confirms Cleo Long, head of product marketing at the platform. “This is a social experiment that aims to help alleviate some of the pressure we know many Gen-Zers are experiencing by making dating more social, more fun and allowing you to bring friends along to help reinforce comfort,” says Long.
Double Dates are set to roll out globally to all Tinder markets starting in July.
