Senators' new attempt to close the gap on betting

The Senate received this Monday the 16th a package with 17 bills that tighten the rules on sports betting. The proposals are part of the final report of the CPI das Bets , rejected last Thursday the 12th.
Signed by Soraya Thronicke (Podemos-MS), rapporteur of the CPI, Damares Alves (Republicanos-DF) and Izalci Lucas (PL-DF), the proposals provide for everything from the creation of a National Betting Registry to the accountability of internet operators that do not block access to illegal betting sites.
The National Bettors Registry, Soraya argues, should gather information about players, such as CPF, betting history and any financial limits.
One of the bills extends to Anatel the role of monitoring internet access and application providers. In practice, it requires operators and digital platforms to block unauthorized gaming sites, closing the gap on the clandestine betting market.
The betting regulatory framework also provides for the classification of three new crimes: exploiting unauthorized bets; advertising illegal bets, such as advertising aimed at minors; and facilitating transactions between users on illegal platforms.
In addition to projects that limit the hours and channels for offering fixed-odds bets, the Senate may analyze proposals that prohibit bets for those registered with CadÚnico — preventing vulnerable families from spending on bets — and that require banks to allow voluntary blocking of bets, with self-control mechanisms for users.
