Cristiano Ronaldo and Georgina Rodríguez became the talk of the town on Monday night, August 11, after publicly announcing their engagement. Eight years after their relationship began, the Portuguese star proposed to his partner.

The beginning of the relationship... in a Gucci store

It was while working as a sales assistant at a Gucci store in Madrid that Georgina Rodríguez met Cristiano Ronaldo. It was 2016.

After they met eyes and started talking, they began to have regular meetings and CR7 even drove her to work in his luxury cars.

"My colleagues would arrive by bus and I would get out in a Bugatti. People couldn't believe it," Georgina recalled in the Netflix documentary 'I Am Georgina', where she recalled the beginning of their relationship and the times her partner would pick her up and take her to the store where he worked.

The iconic trip to Disneyland with Ronaldo in disguise

It was in November 2016 that Ronaldo and Georgina were photographed together for the first time. The Portuguese player appeared wearing a wig, hat, and sunglasses, strolling alongside Georgina Rodríguez at Disneyland Paris.

The romance, remember, began after CR7 ended his five-year relationship with model Irina Shayk.

Their first public appearance as a couple

It was in January 2017 that they made their first public appearance as a couple. Cristiano Ronaldo and Georgina Rodríguez appeared together at the Best FIFA Football Awards. The couple posed alongside Cristianinho, the Portuguese international's eldest son.

In May of that year, the romance was made official on Instagram. Ronaldo shared a photo at the time of himself cuddling Georgina Rodríguez on the sofa.

The arrival of twins

Just like what happened with Cristianinho, now 15, even before making his relationship with Georgina official, the Madeiran decided to become a father again and resorted to a surrogate mother.

In June 2017, the birth of Eva and Mateo, a set of twins, was announced on his social media. A month later, demonstrating the seriousness of the relationship, Ronaldo shared a photo of himself holding one of the babies and Georgina by his side.

The first child together

Living an intense passion and with no time to waste, it was in July 2017 that the couple announced that Georgina was pregnant with their first child together.

Georgina's disagreements with Ronaldo's family?

One of the biggest 'lows' in the relationship could be Georgina's allegedly troubled relationship with her partner's family.

Dolores Aveiro was very close to her son until Georgina arrived, but when the model began living with Ronaldo, circumstances changed. Gio, as she is known, took on the role of woman of the house and mother to CR7's children, leading to Dolores's estrangement.

When Ronaldo headed to Italy to play for Juventus, the matriarch of the Aveiro family stopped living with her son, as she had been doing up until then in Madrid, and moved away permanently to allow the couple to have their privacy.

"I'm not going to live here [in Italy]. Ronaldo is coming with his children and his partner [Georgina Rodríguez], I'm going to my hometown and I come here from time to time," Dolores Aveiro said at the time.

Since then, rumors have been circulating that there is no close relationship between Cristiano Ronaldo's mother and sisters, Katia and Elma, and Georgina Rodríguez.

The painful death of one of the children

In April 2022, Ronaldo and Georgina reached the lowest point in their relationship. Pregnant with twins, Georgina Rodríguez saw one of her sons die during childbirth.

The model was expecting twins, but one of the babies, a boy named Ángel, died. Bella Esmeralda, the youngest of Cristiano Ronaldo's five children, is the second child he shares with Georgina.

The long-awaited marriage proposal

Eight years after they began dating and nine years after they met, the long-awaited marriage proposal arrived. For years, there was much speculation about whether Georgina had already been proposed to; rumors arose whenever the model appeared with a new diamond ring, but the truth is that only now has CR7 gotten down on one knee to propose.

It was through social media that Gio announced the news . "Yes, I accept. In this and all my lives," he said.
