Paulo Cupertino case: defense of the murderer of actor Rafael Miguel wants to send him to the prison where Robinho and Alexandre Nardoni are being held
The defense of Paulo Cupertino Matias , a businessman sentenced to 98 years in prison for the murders of actor Rafael Miguel and the young man's parents , is now trying to change the criminal's fate within the São Paulo penitentiary system.
The lawyers representing Cupertino asked that he be transferred from the Provisional Detention Center (CDP) 2 in Guarulhos to Penitentiary 2 in Tremembé, in the interior of the state — a unit known for housing names with strong public appeal, such as Robinho , Alexandre Nardoni and Ronnie Lessa .
The request was forwarded to the management of the Guarulhos CDP, under the allegation that the penitentiary in the interior offers more security to the defendant, who was on the run for almost three years until being captured in 2022. The request is currently under analysis by the Penitentiary Administration Secretariat (SAP), according to g1.
Crime that shocked the country
The case that led to Cupertino's arrest occurred in June 2019, in the southern area of São Paulo. Actor Rafael Miguel, then 22 years old, was shot dead along with his parents, João Alcisio Miguel and Míriam Selma Miguel , while visiting the home of his then girlfriend, Isabela Tibcherani . The victims were executed with 12 shots.
At the time, Cupertino did not accept his daughter's relationship with Rafael. Security cameras captured the moment when one of the victims was shot and the businessman fled. Despite this, during the trial, he denied the crime and claimed that the shots were fired by an unidentified third person.
