Man on the run after killing ex-girlfriend and stabbing another

A 26-year-old woman was stabbed to death at her home in São Mamede de Infesta, Matosinhos, on Monday night. Her boyfriend was also attacked and was taken to São João Hospital in serious condition, Jornal de Notícias reported. Authorities suspect the attacker was the victim's ex-boyfriend, whose whereabouts are unknown.

The couple was at home on Rua Padre José Pinho when they were approached at 7:45 p.m. by the suspect, who entered the house where he had lived with the victim using the key he still had. Inside the house, according to JN, he entered one of the bedrooms and attacked the man and woman.

Neighbors say they heard the woman's screams. Firefighters from São Mamede de Infesta were called to the scene, but were unable to save her.

Before escaping in the woman's car, the suspect allegedly attacked the victim's current partner, leaving him seriously injured. The man's whereabouts are currently unknown, but it is suspected that he passed through the Penafiel area.

The Judiciary Police, the PSP and the GNR have launched a manhunt in the north of the country and there are suspicions that the attacker is trying to flee to Spain.
