Israel kills 30 Palestinians in attacks in central Gaza

At least 30 Palestinians were killed this morning in a series of Israeli attacks on a refugee camp north of Nuseirat, in the center of the Gaza Strip, sources at Al Awda hospital told EFE.

Most of the bodies arrived at this hospital unit in pieces, the same sources said.

Israeli tanks advanced on the camp, forcing many families to flee, although others remained behind, EFE reported, citing sources in the Palestinian enclave.

According to the Gaza Health Ministry, controlled by the Palestinian Islamist group Hamas, more than 59,000 people have died and another 145,000 have been injured in Gaza since the start of the Israeli offensive, following attacks by Hamas and other Palestinian militias against Israel, on October 7, 2023.

Furthermore, in recent days, hunger-related deaths have increased, according to local health authorities, who blame the growing scourge on Israel's restrictions on humanitarian aid.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu denied the existence of famine in Gaza and said on Monday that he would continue to work with the United States and European countries to "ensure the entry of large quantities of humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip."

According to the Israeli army, 200 aid trucks were distributed yesterday and food was airdropped, in cooperation with the United Arab Emirates and Jordan.

However, international agencies and the UN have warned that much more aid than is currently being delivered is needed to meet the needs of a population that has been under siege for 22 months.
