Madonna has been one of the voices among celebrities who has sought to draw attention to the ongoing situation in Gaza.
This Monday, August 11, the artist left a message on her Instagram page addressed to Pope Leo XIV in which she asked the leader of the Catholic Church to urgently visit the site.
"Most Holy Father,
Please go to Gaza and bring your light to the children before it's too late. As a mother, I can't bear to see their suffering. The children of the world belong to everyone. The Lord is the only one among us who cannot be denied entry.
We need the humanitarian gates to be opened so we can save these innocent children.
There's no time left. Please say you'll go. Love, Madonna," he writes in the message in question.
In her description of the post, the 'Queen of Pop' argues that politicians do not have the ability to bring about change in this situation, as this is something that only "conscience" can achieve.
"Today is my son Rocco's birthday. I feel the best thing I can do for him as a mother is to ask everyone to do what they can to help save innocent children from the crossfire in Gaza. I'm not pointing fingers, blaming anyone, or taking sides. Everyone is suffering. Including the hostages' mothers. I pray that they too will be released. I'm simply doing what I can to prevent these children from starving to death."
In the post, Madonna asked followers to donate to organizations such as World Central Kitchen, Women Wage Peace and Women of the Sun.
Pope Leo XIV, a voice in defense of the people of Gaza
Pope Leo XIV has drawn attention to the current situation in Gaza on several occasions.
At the end of July, the leader of the Catholic Church renewed his call for an immediate ceasefire, the release of hostages held by the Islamist group Hamas and "full respect for humanitarian law."
Noting that his "heart goes out to all those who suffer from conflict and violence throughout the world," Leo XIV emphasized that "every human being has an intrinsic dignity conferred on him by God himself."
"I entrust to Mary, Queen of Peace, the innocent victims of conflicts and the leaders who have the power to put an end to them," he added.

Pope Leo XIV denounced today, during the Angelus prayer, the "grave humanitarian situation in Gaza", considering that the people are being "crushed by hunger" and "exposed to violence and death".
