Silves Medieval Fair has new regulations with exemption from fees

With the aim of further enhancing the success of the Silves Medieval Fair , encouraging the participation of associations and groups in the municipality, as well as artisans, merchants and small producers, Silves City Council has drawn up new regulations for the event.
These new rules will be implemented as of the next edition, to be held between the 8th and 16th of August.
Among the main new features, the exemption from paying the event participation fee stands out for exhibitors who participate as local artisans and producers. This includes those who promote the sale of artisanal, traditional and/or self-created or produced products or artisanal products, and who are legally recognized as such; as well as craftsmen, those whose craft, through the materials, forms and functions used, most faithfully recreates the spirit of the medieval era.
It also includes exemption from paying the participation fee for the Silves Medieval Fair for small farmers who wish to participate in the event to exhibit and sell agricultural products and animals of their own breeding or production, when, within the venue, an area specifically intended for the recreation of a medieval market square is implemented.
The exemption from paying the participation fee for the associations and groups hosting the event is also foreseen, through the exploitation of spaces in the event's food courts, when people are part of the medieval procession, dressed in medieval costumes provided by the event's organizers.
Also noteworthy is the 50 percent reduction in the participation fee for associations and groups based in the municipality, which participate in the Silves Medieval Fair, through the use of spaces in the event's food courts.
The document also included a downward review of the participation fee for exhibitors who operate spaces in certain food courts at the venue, in order to ensure the standardization and coherence of the fees applied to the various food courts at the event.
A series of rules and procedures are also established to ensure the faithful historical recreation of a set of experiences specific to the period that is intended to be portrayed in each edition of the event, and, at the same time, regulate a whole set of aspects considered to be fundamental to supporting the constant sustainable growth and success of the Silves Medieval Fair.
Approved by the Silves City Council , at the meeting held on May 5th, and by the Silves Municipal Assembly, at the meeting held on May 29th, the new regulations for the Silves Medieval Fair are now in force and can be consulted here .
