Preventive detention for suspect of attempting to kill a man

A man who tried to kill another on Thursday morning in Mogadouro, in the district of Bragança, was remanded in custody, the Porto Regional Attorney General's Office (PGRP) said on Tuesday.
In a publication on its website, the PGRP states that the Bragança Court ordered preventive detention as a coercive measure for the man indicted for attempted qualified homicide .
"Considering the dangers of continued criminal activity and serious disruption of public order and tranquility, the court ordered the application of the coercive measure of preventive detention to the defendant," the publication reads.
As part of an investigation led by the Public Prosecutor's Office of the District of Bragança (Public Prosecutor's Office of the Court of General Jurisdiction of Mogadouro), the Public Prosecutor's Office (MP) presented the suspect “detained in flagrante delicto” to the first judicial interrogation for the application of coercive measures on Saturday.
According to the PGRP, after the interrogation, which took place on Saturday, “the court considered that the defendant strongly indicated the practice of a qualified homicide, in attempted form, committed at mid-morning last Thursday, in Mogadouro”.
