PJ arrested 20-year-old man suspected of drug trafficking in the central region

A 20-year-old man suspected of drug trafficking in the Central region was arrested by the Judicial Police (PJ) and was placed in preventive detention by court order, the police announced today.

In a statement sent to the Lusa news agency, the PJ explained that the young man, who already has police references for the same type of crime, is “suspected of being a relevant supplier of narcotic products in the central region of the country”, having been arrested in an operation carried out by the Criminal Investigation Department of Aveiro.

As part of this police operation, the PJ seized “a significant quantity of hashish (six kilos), of a high degree of purity”.

“At issue was the operational action of supply and provisioning already carried out with some dimension and relevance, as confirmed by the quantity of narcotics seized”.

The PJ said that the detainee was brought before the court for questioning in the district of Aveiro, to determine coercive measures, and will await trial in preventive detention.
