Festival leaves four artistic murals in Arcos de Valdevez

The third edition of the MurArcos Urban Art Festival in Arcos de Valdevez leaves four large-scale plastic and physical interventions printed on the walls of the municipality , revealed this Friday the Council, promoter of the event.
The creations by artists Manolo Mesa, from Spain, Helen Burr, from the United Kingdom, and the Portuguese Jorge Charrua, Mariana Santos and Daniela Guerreiro “ address distinct themes, but deeply rooted in the local culture , such as the region’s traditional pottery, emigration/immigration, popular festivals with their folk dances, but also emblematic moments in the History of Arcos de Valdevez.”
“All of this is intertwined with the landscape, where nature and the river, which surrounds the town, play a central role”, highlights the local authority.
The “curation, led by Regg Salgado, took into account the natural beauty and historical richness of the territory, fundamental factors in choosing these artists. ”
The “result is a poetic symbiosis between place and creation, which is revealed through figurative paintings full of identity.”
The festival started on Wednesday and ends on Sunday.
MurArcos is an Urban Art festival created by the Municipality of Arcos de Valdevez in 2023, with a theme centered on the strong identity of Arcos de Valdevez, bringing artists from all over the country and other geographies to tell stories through art and discover the authentic beauty of this territory.
