Bezos' wedding menu features dishes from southern Italy

The wedding of Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos and journalist Lauren Sánchez has an Italian flavor. The three-day party, which began last Thursday (26) in Venice and ends tomorrow (28), features a regional menu, with products and dishes from Campania, in the south of the country.

Michelin-starred Italian chef Fabrizio Mellino, from the Quattro Passi restaurant in Nerano, Naples province, is in charge of the menu, according to the Corriere della Sera newspaper. Therefore, one of the most famous - and delicious - dishes from the Sorrento peninsula could not be left out of the menu: "spaghetti alla Nerano", a recipe that involves fried zucchini and provolone del Monaco in the pasta, a dish that the Mellini family has been cooking for generations.

To sweeten the palates of Bezos-Sánchez's 200 or so guests, the chef asked the pastry chef at the famous Sal De Riso in Minori, on the Amalfi coast, for "a thousand portions of desserts for the buffet", with delicacies that make the house's name: small individual portions of lemon, ricotta and pear sweets.

Only the wedding cake, to be cut today after the exchange of rings between the bride and groom, does not have an Italian signature, being the responsibility of the French confectioner Cédric Grolet, renowned for assembling cakes with refined technique.
