Albufeira debuts Mar'Fado – Fado and Sea Festival in Olhos de Água

Largo dos Pescadores, in Olhos de Água, is preparing to host the first edition of Mar'Fado – Fado and Sea Festival next weekend, August 2nd and 3rd, starting at 9 pm, with free entry.
The initiative, promoted by the Albufeira and Olhos de Água Parish Council and the Algarve Fado Association , in partnership with Albufeira City Council , promises two nights of tradition by the ocean, in a setting where culture intersects with the beauty of the natural landscape.
The Mar'Fado program kicks off on Saturday, August 2, with a performance by Cremilde, one of the most striking voices in the Algarve music scene, followed by José da Câmara, an undisputed name in Lisbon fado.
On Sunday, August 3rd, the young fado singer Inês Gonçalves and António Pinto Basto, an essential reference in traditional fado, will take to the stage.
Entry to Mar'Fado is free and starts at 9:00 pm on both days of the event.
«With a name that suggests a typically Algarve expression («marafado», or «marfado», that is, restless), this new cultural proposal aims to pay homage to Albufeira's deep relationship with the sea and the importance of this element in the genesis of fado», explains Albufeira City Council.
