Wojciech Jerzy Has's films at prestigious festival in Italy. Organizers want to honor the outstanding creator
The next edition of the Il Cinema Ritrovato film festival is taking place in Bologna until June 29. Viewers who decided to take part in this event had a unique opportunity to see the restored film by Wojciech Jerzy Has, "Sanatorium pod klepsydrą" on the big screen on June 24. During the festival, "Rękopis znaleziony w Saragossie" will also be shown.
There are more Polish attractions prepared for the viewers of the Bologna festival Il Cinema Ritrovato . These are not only two restored works by Wojciech Jerzy Has shown there on the occasion of the centenary of his birth, but also reconstructed versions of animated short films produced by Studio Miniatur Filmowych. The screening of the animation has been scheduled for Thursday, June 26, 2025.

In Bologna , a French documentary film related to Poland, "Le Muranów de Varsovie" ("Warsaw Muranów"), directed by Olga Prud-homme Farges, was also shown. In it, the author told the story of the love of her parents. A French father and a Polish mother, who met in Muranów in July 1961 and became involved for the next six decades.

The man is transported to a surreal reality in which his father is still alive. The main roles are played by Jan Nowicki and Gustaw Holoubek .
"The Saragossa Manuscript" is a screen adaptation of Jan Potocki's story in which viewers learn about several stories connected by the main character, Captain Alfons van Worden (Zbigniew Cybulski) .
