It is the second largest island in Greece after Crete. Tourists still do not know about it

The Greek island of Euboea, also known as Evia by the locals, has yet to be overrun by tourists. While many travelers may not be familiar with it, it is really easy to visit and doesn’t require booking flights with transfers. The second largest island in Greece is located right next to the mainland, with a bridge connecting it. Any connection to Athens, followed by a two-hour drive or bus ride, will take you to one of the island’s heavenly beaches.

Euboea is overlooked by many tourists planning their holidays in southern Europe. In terms of area, it is the second Greek island after Crete – but it is much quieter and definitely greener, especially outside the high season. Euboea is located in Aegean Greece, right next to the mainland, less than two hours from Athens – which makes it extremely accessible by transport, also for visitors from Poland. “It is not the first and obvious choice for a holiday. This is a region little known among tourist offers and that is why it is the perfect compromise for those looking for peace, beautiful landscapes, nature, fantastic beaches and authentic Greece,” writes the Rainbow travel agency in its online guide.

Why would a tourist from Poland fly here and not to Santorini or Zakynthos? Apart from the obvious arguments of easy accessibility, lack of crowds and the guarantee of authentic experiences, foreign guests can also be tempted by prices that are lower than in many other places in Greece.

It's hard to get bored on Euboea - the island is diverse and will satisfy both fans of sunbathing and mountain hiking. Lovers of ancient ruins and museums will also have no shortage of attractions. "For the traveler who wants to seek out the real Greece, away from the crowds, this is not only an option, but simply a wise choice," we read.
