XXXII Zabrze Cardiology Conference – new challenges and directions in the treatment of heart diseases

The XXXII Zabrze Cardiology Conference "Advances in the diagnosis and treatment of heart, lung and vascular diseases" will be held at the International Congress Center in Katowice on June 5–7. It will be accompanied by interventional cardiology workshops and echocardiography workshops.

Organized periodically by the Silesian Center for Heart Diseases in Zabrze, the meeting is considered one of the most important nationwide forums for the exchange of knowledge and experiences in the field of cardiology.

The conference program includes several dozen thematic sessions focusing on the most pressing problems of contemporary cardiology, such as heart failure, arrhythmias, valvular diseases, pulmonary embolism, pulmonary hypertension and acute coronary syndromes. An important part will also be presentations on emergencies in cardiology and management of borderline clinical situations.

Experts will present and discuss the latest guidelines of the European Society of Cardiology (ESC) and their practical application in the Polish healthcare system. Interdisciplinary sessions with specialists in psychiatry, intensive care, geriatrics, sports medicine and obstetrics have also been planned, which emphasize the need for cooperation between different fields of medicine in the treatment of patients with cardiovascular diseases.

The XXVI Interventional Cardiology Workshops are an integral part of the conference. Their participants will have the opportunity to watch live broadcasts of procedures performed in the Hemodynamics Laboratory of the Silesian Center for Heart Diseases. In addition to standard procedures, special attention was paid to modern intravascular imaging techniques and advanced structural and bifurcation procedures.

The session, organised together with the European organisation EAPCI Young Committee – Joint Sessions, will discuss real clinical cases which demonstrate the pitfalls of interventional procedures.

The 7th Echocardiography Workshop will focus on modern methods of imaging the heart and large vessels. Live broadcasts of echocardiographic examinations of patients will be a starting point for practical comments and joint analysis of cases with the participation of experts and participants.

The day before the conference begins, on June 4, the 3rd Heart Disease Patients Congress will be held – an event organized online from the headquarters of the Silesian Heart Disease Center. It will be attended by patients, their loved ones and medical staff. The debate format will allow for an open discussion about the daily difficulties associated with chronic disease, barriers in access to care, emotional problems and self-care and rehabilitation strategies.

The congress aims not only to educate patients, but also to increase awareness among professionals about the needs of people struggling with circulatory system diseases.

The organizers emphasize that in addition to the exchange of scientific knowledge and clinical experiences, the conference provides an opportunity to establish professional contacts and better understand Upper Silesia – a region where industrial tradition combines with modernity, and medical care remains one of the pillars of local identity.
