The National Health Fund lost PLN 82 million. The gang consisted of 21 people.

Twenty-one people belonged to a gang that was dismantled thanks to a nationwide security operation. According to a press release, PLN 82 million was defrauded from the National Health Fund (NFZ) budget.
Investigators found that gang members submitted nearly 40,000 prescriptions to the National Health Fund between September 2022 and December 2024, some of which were issued with fictitious patient data.
"The value of ingredients used to prepare prescription drugs was overstated, allowing for improper reimbursement. This resulted in fraudulently obtaining at least PLN 82 million from the National Health Fund budget, " said Deputy Chief Krzysztof Wrześniowski, spokesman for the Central Bureau of Police Investigation.
The services detained 21 people in the Pomeranian and Masovian Voivodeships , including:
- doctors,
- owners and employees of pharmacies,
- entrepreneurs from the medical industry.
CBŚP officers, acting together with National Health Fund inspectors and representatives of pharmaceutical inspectorates, searched dozens of properties.
Secured:
- documents,
- data carriers,
and property worth over PLN 2.5 million, including:
- cash,
- gold,
- jewelry,
- exclusive watches,
- expensive cars.
The detainees were charged with leading and participating in an organized criminal group, as well as fraud . At the prosecutor's request, the court remanded eight suspects in custody for three months.
The rest of the people got:
- police supervision,
- property bail,
- contact bans,
- bans on leaving the country.
The case is developing - investigators do not rule out further arrests.
The operation, ordered by the prosecutor of the Investigation Department of the District Prosecutor’s Office in Zielona Góra, was carried out by officers of the Central Police Investigation Bureau in cooperation with inspectors of the National Health Fund and the Provincial Pharmaceutical Inspectorates from Gdańsk and Warsaw.
The operation was preceded by months of evidence gathering . This evidence was also transferred to the prosecutor's office thanks to the cooperation of employees of the National Health Fund's Audit Department and the Inspector General for Financial Information.
