A Nursing Center for PLN 52 Million. This is already a certainty in a city of 280,000.

The university signed an agreement on the granting of funds from the KPO at the end of last week, the authorities of the Medical University of Białystok (UMB) announced at a press conference.
The Nursing Center is being built on the grounds of the University Clinical Hospital on Żurawia Street in Białystok. As UMB Chancellor Konrad Raczkowski said on Monday:
- the construction of the center will cost PLN 36 million,
- and its equipment - PLN 16 million.
He added that PLN 43 million came from the KPO funds, the rest from the university funds.
The Chancellor announced that the center is being developed using a design-build process, with the building expected to be ready in February 2026. Students are expected to use the center from October 2026.
It will be a four-story building with an area of 3,200 square meters. It will include:
- lecture halls,
- seminar rooms,
- nursing simulation center.
As Professor Mateusz Cybulski, Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences, which oversees the nursing program, said, the simulation center will include practice rooms and high-fidelity rooms, as well as technical and nursing skills labs.
"All of these rooms will be prepared to conduct the OSCE exam, an objective, structured standardized exam that is now imposed by the new educational standard preparing for the nursing profession, including the practical diploma exam. This means the building will be 100% prepared for education in accordance with the new educational standard, " Cybulski emphasized.
Rector of the Medical University of Białystok, Professor Marcin Moniuszko, emphasized that thanks to the center, a number of repeatable skills can and should be acquired in simulated conditions. He added that, alongside traditional forms of education, modern education is largely based on practice, including through simulation scenarios.
He added that the vast majority of funds raised to equip the center will be allocated to mannequins – both for basic nursing procedures and high-fidelity mannequins.
- And that is precisely the purpose of this, for students to first learn (...) how to perform these procedures on technologically advanced phantoms, so that later, once they know how to perform them technically, they can train on patients during practical classes and professional internships - said Moniuszko.
The conference also summarized this year's recruitment process at the Medical University of Bialystok, where students can choose from 16 majors. Moniuszko said that a record number of over 9,000 students applied, an increase compared to last year.
According to the university, the greatest competition is in:
- in the field of medicine and dentistry, where there are 23 people per place,
- medical - 18 people per place.
The university also notes that nursing and physiotherapy programs are becoming increasingly popular, with several applicants seeking places. MUB has also increased its enrollment limits in these programs.
In addition to the Nursing Center, UMB is also building a Teaching and Examination Center with funds obtained from the KPO. Construction will cost approximately PLN 140 million. The plan is for the first students to use the center in October 2026.
