INTERIOR OF THE WEEK: King Jan's Bagels in Poznań - a game of shape, color and taste

INTERIOR OF THE WEEK: King Jan's Bagels in Poznań - a game of shape, color and taste

Poznańskie Bajgle Króla Jana (King John's Bagels) is an interior bursting with energy, humor, and color. The space invites not only flavor seekers but also aesthetes and enthusiasts of unique interiors. It engages the senses and lingers in the memory long after the last bite.

Lots of humor and fun combined with artistic flair and good cuisine - this is how you can describe the new branch of Bajgle Króla Jana in Poznań in just a few words.

Geometry and color divide the rooms into zones. An arch in a brick wall —a relic of the past—becomes the perfect backdrop for modern circles, curves, waves, and semicircles: circular-inspired forms that softly contrast with the sharper lines of furniture and lamps. The entire space has been designed like an artistic canvas that comes to life—underfoot, on the walls, ceilings, and in the details.

Architects from mode:lina! studio have made a difficult but intriguing compromise: combining gastronomy and functionality while preserving the spirit of the historic interior.

- We have created a space where everyone will find something for themselves: high tables with stools, seats in display cases, a large common bench with movable tables that can be combined for any number of people, and a seat for a courier - admit the architects from the mode:lina studio!

Well-thought-out functionality – a place that adapts to the guests

Where walls and vaults once stood, today there are zones. High tables with stools, comfortable seats by the street-facing display windows, a communal bench that can be separated or joined, depending on the group's needs – all this makes Bajgli Króla Jana a flexible place, adaptable to any dream: a quick breakfast, a long lunch, an evening coffee date, or a late-night bagel tasting.

The counter , set back from the crowd, invites you in. It continues with a table with a plant next to it, where you can wait for your takeout, make friends, or browse the shelves of coffees and condiments in peace.

Warm and cozy spaces were created through the use of wood and colors that flow seamlessly between floors, walls, and ceilings, creating a seamless whole. Maja Ganszyniec, the creator of the Paradyż Neve Creative tile line, joined in the fun with structures, textures, and forms.

The bathroom is the pinnacle of the architects' ingenuity. The shape-distorting bagel mirror is part of the visual game, encouraging more time spent in the bathroom.

Design with a wink

The new location of Bajgle Króla Jana is perfect for a leisurely breakfast, a quick lunch, or a late dinner, thanks to the New School MDD chairs, Concrete Pedrali pedestals with concrete fragments, and Miami stools from Pawlak&Stawski Loftdecoria. Łukasz Kosa, AKA Guru Gomez, handled the visual identity, designing the takeout packaging and the wallpaper on one of the walls.
