Dr. Mikołaj Konstanty, Vice President of the Supreme Pharmaceutical Council, has been elected President of the Pharmaceutical Group of the European Union (PGEU). The term of office of the new authorities will begin on January 1, 2026.
The Supreme Pharmaceutical Chamber announced that at the PGEU General Assembly in Dublin, members of the organization elected Mikołaj Konstanty, Ph.D., pharm. , as the president of PGEU. Ly Rootslane from the Estonian Pharmacy Association was elected as the vice-president. The term of office of the new authorities will begin on January 1, 2026.
- I would like to thank all PGEU members for their trust. 2026 will be an extremely important year for pharmacy – the priorities will be the ongoing amendment to the general pharmaceutical legislation of the European Union, the Act on critical medicines and the ongoing problems with shortages of medicines and pharmaceutical staff. We will continue our joint efforts in finding effective solutions. I look forward to working with all PGEU members to make our vision of the future of pharmacy a reality, ensuring that the profession of pharmacist remains vibrant, sustainable and focused on solving growing challenges – said Dr. Mikołaj Konstanty, quoted by NIA.
The PGEU president-elect is an experienced pharmacist with over 20 years of professional experience. Since 2024, he has been the vice president of the NRA and coordinates the committee on pharmaceutical care, external affairs and business.
The newly elected vice-president of PGEU, Ly Rootslane, has over 30 years of experience in the pharmaceutical and healthcare sectors. She is the head of the Estonian Pharmacy Association, which brings together over 300 pharmacies.
It is worth adding that the Pharmaceutical Group of the European Union (PGEU) is an organization associating representatives of pharmacists from 33 European countries, and its main goal is to represent the interests of its members at the European Union level by monitoring legislation and initiatives concerning the pharmaceutical market. PGEU maintains permanent relations with EU institutions, including the European Commission and the European Parliament.
In total, the organisation represents over 400,000 pharmacists who take care of the health of over 500 million European citizens every day. PGEU members are national associations and bodies representing pharmacies and pharmacists from the Member States.
