On June 2nd, a nationwide program was launched that could change the lives of thousands of children and young people from all over Poland. Parents, guardians and schools can apply for scholarships under the Individual Development Accounts (IKR) Junior program. There is a lot of money at stake – up to PLN 15,000 per child. The funds will help finance extracurricular activities, develop passions, acquire new skills and equalize educational opportunities.

But you have to hurry, because the application period lasts only until June 16 (inclusive).

IKR Junior is a project aimed at children and young people from low-income families. The program was prepared as part of the European initiative "European Guarantee for Children" and is implemented by the Ministry of Funds and Regional Policy and the Foundation for the Development of the Education System (FRSE). Its budget is as much as PLN 110 million .

Thanks to these funds, children who previously had limited access to additional classes will be able to participate in language courses, scientific workshops, sports, music or art classes. Who can receive funding?

The programme includes:

  • students of grades 5-8 of primary schools,
  • students of secondary schools (except post-secondary schools),
  • children and young people who meet certain income criteria.

Children who are eligible for support include:

  • those benefiting from the government program "Meals at school and at home", receiving family benefits,
  • living in foster care (without having to prove income).

Importantly, scholarships are awarded first to children in grades 5 and 6 of primary school .

Each qualified child will receive a maximum of PLN 15,000 for three years (PLN 5,000 per year).

This money can be used for a wide range of development activities:

  • language courses (English, German, Spanish and others),
  • sports training (football, dancing, swimming, judo, etc.),
  • artistic workshops (drawing, music, photography, theatre),
  • scientific and technological activities (programming, robotics),
  • educational trips and thematic holiday camps.

Parents and children can flexibly adjust their choice of activities even every semester.

The recruitment process began on June 2, 2025 and will last until June 16, 2025. However, please note that the recruitment process may be closed earlier when the number of applications reaches the limit of 4,500. Therefore, the order of applications is decisive.

Applications can be submitted:

  • individually – by parents, legal guardians or adult students,
  • institutionally – through schools and educational facilities.

Applications are submitted exclusively electronically via the system available at: forms.frse.org.pl .

After positive verification of the application, parents sign an agreement with the Foundation for the Development of the Education System , and the foundation settles the costs directly with the organizers of the selected classes. At the end of each period of study, the participant will have to provide a certificate or certificate confirming participation.

How many children will benefit from the program? In the first round, 4,000 students will receive support, and in the next round – planned for next year – another 2,000 children. The entire program will last until 2027 and will cover several thousand families from all over Poland.
