During the symphony concert on November 14th, Kevin Chen, winner of the 2nd Prize in the 19th Chopin Competition, will perform with the Szczecin Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Przemysław Neumann. The artist will perform Fryderyk Chopin's Concerto in E minor, the same one he played in the final stage of the competition. This Warsaw award is another in the collection of extraordinary achievements of the young Canadian pianist. Kevin Chen is a winner of such prestigious competitions as the Arthur Rubinstein Piano Master in Tel Aviv, the Concours de Genève, and the Franz Liszt Competition in Budapest. Born in 2005, the artist has developed his talent in Hanover under the direction of Ari Vardi and is increasingly conquering international stages.
On March 20, 2026, we will hear in a solo recital one of the youngest stars of this year's Chopin Competition, hailed by the audience as the "princess of the piano" – Tianyao Lyu, winner of the 4th Prize and the National Philharmonic's special award for best concerto performance. Born in 2008, the pianist studied in Poznań with Katarzyna Popowa-Zydroń, and her list of competition accolades is growing at an impressive pace: from awards in Ettlingen to the Grand Prix in Szafarnia. She has already performed with ensembles from Europe and Asia, and her performances have been met with acclaim at venues including Carnegie Hall and the National Center for the Performing Arts in Beijing.
The International Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition, which dates back to 1927, remains one of the most important events in the world of music, dedicated exclusively to the work of the Polish composer. It is a competition that has inspired successive generations of artists and captivated audiences worldwide for nearly a century.
The competition is organised by the Fryderyk Chopin National Institute.
