Hidden Croatia: A Journey to Prvić Island, the Adriatic's Secret Gem

Summer should follow the slow, natural rhythm of the sea , but that's not always the case. The most popular destinations fill up quickly, and with packed itineraries and must-see attractions, the days end up being marked by the clock rather than the sun. Yet, there are still almost secret places: islands far from mass tourism, where time seems to stretch and the days pass slowly, as they should. One of these is located in Croatia , in the Šibenik archipelago .
We're talking about the island of Prvić (Provicchio in Italian), a serene, car-free oasis where you can stroll through the streets of romantic fishing villages, taste olive oil, hike along trails, and, of course, enjoy breathtakingly beautiful beaches surrounded by nature.
Prvić is a popular destination for both day trips , for which numerous boat excursions are offered, and for spending a quiet holiday lasting several days.

It can be easily reached by either booking a taxi boat or taking the ferries , which run several times a day. Together with the port and the medieval church of St. Helena , they create an absolutely enchanting setting. In Šepurine, you'll enjoy a pleasant Mediterranean atmosphere, enhanced by the presence of small taverns and cafes that invite tourists to linger and enjoy the specialties on offer.
To the southeast, you'll find Prvić Luka , the second settlement. Connected to Šepurine by a concrete footpath , it is characterized by stone labyrinths, also protected as a historical monument. Among the most notable attractions are the beautiful village center, which exudes a charming atmosphere with its old stone buildings, and the Church of St. Mary , which houses the final resting place of the famous scientist and scholar Faust Vrančić , famous for inventing, among other things, the parachute .
In his honor, a small but interesting Vrančić Museum was opened in Prvić Luka, which, among other things, displays models of his inventions. In Šepurine, the manor house that Vrančić built as his summer residence stands out.
