Zuckerberg: 'Super AI is imminent'

"The development of a superintelligence is now imminent: it will be personal and will help us achieve our goals, create what we want. And we will bring it to everyone," Mark Zuckerberg stated in a Facebook post following the quarterly results, in which Meta reported revenue above expectations.
"Just 200 years ago, 90% of people were farmers who grew food to survive," he observed. "Technological advances have gradually freed much of humanity, allowing them to focus less on subsistence and more on the activities of their choosing." According to the Facebook founder, interactions with AI systems will soon shift to other, currently niche, devices, such as the connected glasses that Meta already produces with EssilorLuxottica.
"Personal objects like glasses, which understand our context because they can see, hear, and interact with us, will become the primary computing tools," he said.
To develop superintelligence, Meta has created a dedicated team within the so-called Superintelligence Labs, the result of the American giant's investment in Scale AI, a startup focused on developing artificial intelligence services. This team also includes researchers Meta acquired from rival OpenAI.
"Superintelligence will raise new security concerns," Zuckerberg concluded. "We will need to be rigorous in mitigating these risks and careful about what we choose to open source."
