Soccer - Serie D - Varesina fails to take off: Fenici defeated at home by Real Calepina - Sports - Varese News

Sunday's victory in Sondrio wasn't enough to get Varesina off the ground: in the midweek round, valid as matchday 4, Spilli's team was defeated 0-2 at home by Real Calepina, thus suffering their third defeat of the season.
A goal in each half favored the Orobic team, but before the break, the match experienced another significant moment: the suspension—lasting approximately 35 minutes —due to a muscle injury to one of the assistant referees, Spinelli, who was later replaced by an AIA member authorized to perform that function. Upon returning to the field, two goals were scored , one for each side, but both were disallowed for fouls by the scorers (Costantino and the former Oboe).
The "official" scorer was Real Calepina right-back Gianluca Lugnan, who scored his first goal of the season in the 36th minute with a diagonal pass to punish the hosts' hesitation. Things got even more complicated for the Phoenix at the start of the second half with Costantino's second yellow card (and subsequent red card ) : with a man down, everything became more difficult.
Spilli brought on Rosa and Franzoni after 15 minutes (both threatened, but were unable to land the decisive blow), but in the 26th minute, visiting striker Zappa scored his second goal of the season (Lorenzi touched the ball but it wasn't enough to deflect the final shot) , further undermining the Rossoblu's morale . Larhrib's introduction for Banaga didn't help matters, and so the situation remains delicate for Varesina, with just three points secured on the pitch against the bottom club.
