Adobe continues to revolutionize Photoshop with artificial intelligence

Anyone who works with images knows how much time can be wasted on technical tasks: fixing edges, adjusting lights, removing unwanted elements. These steps are often necessary, but they slow down the entire creative flow. Adobe is trying to change the rules of the game by announcing a Photoshop update that introduces new features based on generative artificial intelligence. The goal is to streamline repetitive tasks and offer more intuitive and precise tools, available on desktop, web, and mobile devices.

The most notable new feature is Harmonize (in beta), a feature previewed as “Project Perfect Blend” at the Adobe MAX 2024 conference. Using the Firefly Image model, Harmonize analyzes the image context and automatically adjusts the color, lighting, shadows, and tone of the inserted elements. The result is visually consistent and realistic compositions, achievable without time-consuming manual adjustments. The feature is available in beta on Photoshop desktop and web, and is also previewed on iOS.

Also in beta, Generative Upscale allows you to increase an image's resolution up to 8 megapixels while maintaining sharpness and detail. This is a useful tool for those working with print materials, or for upgrading low-quality images for reuse on digital media.

The Remove tool, already a favorite among users, now leverages the latest Firefly model to remove unwanted elements with greater precision. Whether it's electrical wires in a landscape or imperfections in a portrait, the tool not only removes but also reconstructs the background naturally, with fewer artifacts and more professional results.

For creative teams, Projects (in beta) is coming, a new feature designed to bring together entire asset collections in a single shared space. The goal is to reduce work fragmentation, preventing files from being scattered across hard drives, the cloud, and email exchanges. This solution improves collaboration and simplifies the management of ongoing projects.
