Vasco Rossi's mother (and nanny) in the rocker's sweetest photo
Bologna, 11 May 2025 – A heartfelt and moving tribute that Vasco Rossi wanted to dedicate to his mother Novella , on the occasion of Mother's Day .
By posting a photo on Instagram portraying Novella together with Ivana, her nanny , the rocker from Zocca shared an intimate and authentic piece of his childhood .
“Best wishes to my mother and all mothers!!! In this photo, my mother Novella is with Ivana (on the left), my nanny. We went to live in her house when I was two and she was 15. We grew up together,” writes Vasco, remembering his youth. Vasco tells how, since he was a child, only Italian was spoken at home, a choice made by mothers of his generation, who wanted their children to grow up speaking that language.
“I understand the dialect very well, but I don’t speak it well,” he confesses, thinking back to the times when, in Zocca , he represented one of the first generations to experience that change. “I was lucky because I lived through a period of revolution that brought many new things, including music. We were the rock’n’roll generation.”
Among the published stories and the post, Vasco also shared a video in which his mother speaks directly: "Vasco has always played, he played the guitar very well. He wanted to try at home too and asked me to do the second voice. I made mistakes, and he scolded me. It was terrible."
A happy childhood, the one at Rossi's house: "Mine was a very positive childhood, serene, I would say really happy, even if mine was a family that couldn't make it to the end of the month. My mother sent me to the shops in the last days to buy things and then to say 'signs' because she was embarrassed and so if I went as a child it was easier".
Words that tell of a difficult time , but illuminated by maternal love : "I have never lacked anything because evidently the love of the mother and father fills you even if there is no money".
“Thank you mum Novella, the most beautiful, the most Rock ”, writes Vasco at the end of this journey through memories, a tribute that is full of love and gratitude , a bond that remains strong and bright, as only the bond between mother and son can be.
