Theater: Here's a reading from "The Useless Guide to Capri."

Wednesday, July 30th at 7 pm, the Ignazio Cerio Capri Center hosts a theatrical reading curated and directed by Mario Autore, based on the “Useless Guide to Capri”.
Edwin Cerio's volume, first published in 1946, is accompanied by an ironic attempt to discourage the public from visiting Capri "in mutual interest."
After these "warnings," having eliminated the potential tourist dangers for the island, the author leads the reader on a loving journey through the topographical, historical, and human aspects, describing the people, the customs, the passing of the seasons, and the life of Capri.
In the era of overtourism, Cerio's text seems particularly timely and invites, through a subtle sense of humor, reflection on the not always sustainable developments of tourism.
The event, sponsored by both municipalities of the island, will be interspersed with musical interventions on the piano by Mario Autore, accompanied in the reading by Federica Pirone, to give rhythm and incisiveness to the theatricalization of the text.
