The Faraglioni Capri International Award goes to Placido Domingo.

Laura Chimenti, the face of Rai's Tg1 news program and one of Italy's most respected journalists, will host the gala evening of the 30th Faraglioni Capri International Award. The event is scheduled for today in the elegant setting of the Grand Hotel Quisisana Theater, the award's historic venue and official partner. This year's prestigious award, now in its thirtieth year, will be presented to an absolute legend of world music, Plácido Domingo, who greeted the news with emotion: "It is a great joy and a great honor for me to have been chosen as the winner of the Faraglioni Capri International Award: an award that celebrates not only art but also the tradition and beauty of your immense cultural heritage, of which I am a great admirer." Paying tribute to the maestro will be the lyrical talent of Juliana Grigoryan, a young and celebrated internationally acclaimed soprano who will enchant the audience with her refined technique, expressive power, and artistic sensitivity, which have already established her in the world's most important theaters. The musical moment will be further enhanced by the presence of pianist James Vaughan, long considered one of Europe's leading recital accompanists and vocal coaches, and first assistant to Riccardo Muti in seventeen productions at Milan's Teatro alla Scala, where he remains principal répétiteur. Representing Italy will be Lina Sastri, a multifaceted artist among Italy's most beloved, who will offer Domingo a passionate and intense tribute with her voice and stage presence, so steeped in Mediterranean culture. The Faraglioni Capri International Award consists of a silver sculpture depicting the famous Faraglioni, symbol of the Blue Island, mounted on a marble base reminiscent of the color of our sea. This year, as in the first edition, the award was created by the master silversmiths of Pierino Gioielli of Anacapri. The initiative was conceived, produced, and organized by the brothers Aldo and Bruno Damino and the entire Capri Arte group, who for thirty years have preserved its spirit and vision, contributing to the enhancement of the island's cultural and artistic heritage through a nationally and internationally recognized event. The coveted prize will be presented to the winner by the Mayor of Capri, Paolo Falco, reflecting the strong bond between the Award and the local area. Among the expected guests are numerous personalities from the worlds of art, culture, entertainment, and institutions.
