LOVERE (Bergamo) An experimental format to gauge fan reaction. For its 27th edition, CortoLovere , still under the artistic direction of Gianni Canova, becomes the " International Short Film Festival of Lake Iseo ," involving Iseo, Costa Volpino, Monte Isola, and Predore. No longer an event that attracts just Lovere, its traditional home, but rather the entire Lake Iseo area.
Two strands are taking shape. The first is the traveling festival "Young Women Directing" (from tomorrow to August 9th), which brings to the screen the most original and promising voices in new Italian female cinema, with some of them presenting their films live before the screening. Among the highlights are tomorrow at 9:30 pm in Piazza XIII Martiri in Lovere, "Vermiglio" by Maura Delpero, winner of the Silver Lion at Venice, seven David di Donatello Awards, and Italy's entry for the 2025 Oscars; Friday at 9:30 pm at Castello Oldofredi in Iseo, "Gloria!" by director Margherita Vicario, live on video, (three David di Donatello awards, Berlinale 2024, Nastri d'Argento); Saturday at 9:30 pm in Piazza Ligustri in Monte Isola (Peschiera), "Happiness" by Micaela Ramazzotti (SIAE Award for Best First Film - Bari International Film Festival 2025); on August 6th at the Baia delle Rose in Costa Volpino The boy with the pink trousers by Margherita Ferri, live on video (Ciak d'Oro, Biglietto d'Oro Miur, awards in Sweden and Estonia).
The other strand of CortoLovere is Occhi sul Lago (Eyes on the Lake), now in its eighth edition, also growing: from the initial three Under-40 crews to five, featuring young filmmakers, who will be busy from September 22nd to 27th filming and capturing the soul of the five lakeside towns involved in the festival. The grand finale will take place on September 27th at the Crystal in Lovere, with the awards ceremony for the best works and the presentation of the Signora del Lago prize to Cristina Comencini.
